In February this year, Medigold Health received the most terrible news. Our beloved Chief Operating Officer – Mark Vickers – had passed away after battling a short, but overwhelming, illness. This was totally unexpected and came as a shock to us all.
In Mark’s honour and at the request of his wife, Helen, Medigold Health created a crowd-funding page to raise money for the ITU at Northampton General Hospital who so diligently and kindly cared for Mark in his final weeks.
We set an optimistic target of £2,500 and the donations, along with countless messages of condolence came flooding in including a donation for £520 from the cathedral collection that was held during Mark’s funeral. The response was incredible and very quickly it became clear that we would exceed our original target, so we moved the goal-posts to £5,000, once again reaching for the stars.
Over the proceeding weeks, Medigold Health was humbled by the generosity and kindness we observed from employees, associates and customers alike, as we moved closer to our ambitious new target. Wonderful memories of Mark were shared via our LinkedIn and crowdfunding pages along with many messages of condolence to pass on to the Vickers family.
Yesterday, it was our great pleasure to join Helen and her family to present the magnificent staff of Northampton General Hospital ITU, with a cheque for £10,000! Medigold Health hit the ambitious target of £5,000 which was then matched by the Vickers family doubling the total. It is Helen’s wish to revitalise the family waiting areas of the ITU to create a comfortable and tranquil environment for other families going through the same distressing time her family has just experienced.
Again, we would like to thank all of the amazing staff working in Northampton General ITU and each and every one of you who donated. We feel blessed to be able to create an environment, in Mark’s honour, that will benefit others for many years to come.
