As the cold weather sets in and Christmas is now only weeks away, the joy of hanging festive decorations through the house and watching the snow fall from the warmth of your home is not everyone’s reality. According to recent figures released by the charity Shelter, more than 300,000 people in Britain, equivalent to one in every 200, are officially recorded as homeless or living in inadequate homes.
With these alarming figures in mind, Rhiannon Gregory from the Medigold Health Sheffield office decided to help by taking part in the Sheffield Homeless Christmas Shoebox Appeal and encouraged her colleagues to join her.
Collectively the team donated more than 12 Christmas Shoeboxes filled with essential items including; shower gels, deodorants, dental items and sanitary products plus hats, scarves and gloves to help keep the homeless warm.
The team found the whole experience incredibly humbling and a real eyeopener into some of the daily challenges those suffering from homelessness face. Fantastic work Rhiannon and Team!
