It is with great sadness that we write to inform all connected with Medigold Health that on Friday 08th February, our beloved and highly respected Chief Operating Officer, Mark Vickers, passed away after a short illness. Mark unfortunately lost a battle against an overwhelming combination of complex recent health issues and died peacefully in his sleep in the ITU of Northampton General Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. This is a truly devastating loss not just for Medigold Health as a business, but also personally for many of us.
Mark joined Medigold Health in January 2007, after our Life President and Founder, Dr Mike Goldsmith, persuaded him to join our cause to create a world-class Occupational Health Nursing Team. Mark fulfilled this aim almost immediately and then went on to achieve a great many more successes in his 12 years with the business. Mark grew with the business, was never too busy for anyone and his knowledge and understanding of the industry has been invaluable. He will be best remembered for his kind, calm composure and an ability to bring order and reason to almost every situation. Put simply, he was a Gentlemen, the like of which seems to get rarer and rarer these days.
Mark will not only be missed by Medigold Health employees, he was a key external face of our organisation and was known to many of our suppliers, customers, competitors and friends and we know this news will come as a shock to all, especially as Mark was so young and just entering his prime.
Mark’s funeral and celebration of his life will be held at Derby Cathedral at 11am on Monday 4th March, 2019. Mark’s family would like to convey that anyone who knew or came into contact with him, in whatever capacity, is welcome to attend and there will be a wake/celebration of his life afterwards (the venue of which will be advertised in the next few days). If you see this announcement, and would like to attend Mark’s funeral and event afterwards, please help us with an email to email@example.com so we can more accurately cater for numbers.
Flowers are welcome at the funeral (as Mark loved flowers!), however in Mark’s honour and at the request of Helen, his wife, we have also created a crowd-funding page to raise funds for the ITU at Northampton General Hospital who so diligently and kindly cared for Mark in his final weeks. It is Helen’s wish to revitalise the family waiting areas of the ITU to create a comfortable and nurturing environment for other families going through the same challenging time the Vickers family has just experienced. Love to all, The Medigold Health Team
