What an A-Maisie-ing Achievement!

Staff at Medigold Health were delighted to have Paralympic Swimmer, Maisie Summers-Newton visit their Head Office this morning during her well-earned three week rest period.

Sponsored by Medigold Health, Maisie popped in to show us the three golds and one bronze medal she won at the recent World Para-Swimming European Championships in Dublin, smashing two world records in the process.

When asked where she will keep her medals, the 16-year-old swimmer said; “I have a glass cabinet at home for all my medals and trophies. However, I think I might need a bigger cabinet!”

In addition to her record-breaking achievements in Dublin, Maisie also received her GCSE results last week achieving the equivalent of A*-Cs across all of her subjects. On results day, her Head-Teacher and other students congratulated her on her swimming achievements, despite some of them previously being completely unaware that she is a British Para-Swimming Gold Medallist!

The humble champ said; “Only really my best friend knew that I swim for Great Britain. After my success at Dublin, I kept getting lots of messages from people saying ‘I think I have just seen you on TV?!’ It is not something I really tell people, I like to just be Maisie.”

Tokyo 2020On September 11th 2018, Maisie is heading off to Japan for two weeks to check out the stadium and pool ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Whilst over there she will take part in a training camp, participate in competitions and also visit some local schools to inspire the next generation of swimmers.

Talking about the trip, Maisie said; “I am really excited about visiting Japan and experiencing the culture over there ahead of Tokyo in 2020. It will be my first ever long-haul flight so I am a little nervous but I am excited to watch some films on the plane.”

Medigold Health’s Life President & Founder, Dr. Mike Goldsmith said; “All of us at Medigold Health are incredibly proud of Maisie and her continued achievements. We love following her on such an inspiring journey and are honoured to be one of her sponsors.”
